My Daily Morning And Evening Rituals + 5 Tips How To Stick To It

Personal growth

In my previous post, The Power of Daily Rituals And Its Difference Between Routines, I explained about the importance of daily rituals, human beings as creatures of habits, and how a ritual is hugely different from a typical routine. A ritual is taken through a course of actions with a purpose driven mentality rather than a simple mean of getting it done. In simple terms, they are empowering routines, carried out with mindfulness at the back of the mind.

They are a framework designed with positive intentions for your self care, well being and personal growth. A dedication to yourself that begins with yourself.

They are meant to be fluid, tweaked constantly (as there is always room for adjustments/improvements and changes are always occurring!) and definitely so much FUN to design because you can personalise it to what matters to you and what works for you. I have started my rituals a while back now and it has definitely fuelled me in ensuring a deeper self care for myself, a much balanced lifestyle and being more productive and happier in my day job and writing Arawme!

Before I dive into sharing my daily sacred rituals, I would like to mention that it is not my intention to overwhelm you or make you question your productivity and your self care efforts. Rather, I am sharing in hope to empower you in integrating more mindfulness habits and making a dedication towards mastering a limitless and brave life you deserve. Also, I am definitely a work in progress too. There are some days I do not completely fulfil my rituals or stick to it. There are days I lack the discipline to wake up at 6 am/ 6.30 am/ 7 am. But the idea is recognising it, embracing it and reaffirming what your values and intentions are in the first place when you designed it. And it naturally flows.

  • Evening reading Kindle time (15-30 minutes)

  • Transcendence meditation for 10- 15 minutes (optional)

It is obvious from my rituals that I am an early riser. I wasn’t always this way. I will write a post about being productive and how your mornings make or break your day. And being all into holistic wellness, I am deeply concerned on how I nourish my body, my mind and my soul and I take serious considerations in designing my rituals because of that. Breakfast is my most important meal of the day. And as a deeply spiritual person, I always make sure I integrate a spiritual practice or habit in my rituals.

So when designing your rituals, it can be only a morning ritual as most people do( I just like to have two daily rituals), always make sure you integrate mindfulness at the back of your mind.

What matters to you? What areas of your life do you want to focus on right now? What is your current goal, say your career or side hustle or relationships or financial plans, health goal or spiritual growth?

Be honest with yourself, are you dedicating sufficient self care in your current life? What more can you integrate to feel more productive, balanced, empowered and an inner peace? Are you mindlessly consumed in our distracted society? Are you engaged in habits that inspire or motivate you? How can you be more intentional and proactive in acquire knowledge and inspiration? Find a moment with a paper and pen and reevaluate what can be improved through a growth mindset.

Below are 5 tips I personally attest to in sticking to your rituals:

  • Be Honest With Yourself And Identify What Matters To You

Every small amount of success begins when you align the things you do with what your values and principles are. Consistency is the key. This goes even for a daily ritual. It is however OKAY when you deviate from your ritual or fall into indiscipline. Cut yourself some slack. But what matters is, do always draw yourself back and remind yourself why you first started it; your purpose for it and get back into it. It is almost natural. This way, with a well intended goal makes a purposeful habit and a successful ritual.

  • Create A Sacred Space

Use sage or palo santo to cleanse the space. Put away your distractions like your phones or switch it to airplane mode. Light up a candle. Adorn the space the way you want it. Declutter. Establish visual cues/reminders- for example once you see the journal and the pen, you know to put your phone away (and keep it away). Make it a space you can feel completely relaxed, achieving presence for meditation or gratitude journalling. Put on some calming meditation music, so your mind and body know instinctively its invitation to a night of deep rejuvenating rest or a day of productivity and proactivity.

  • Allow Room For Adjustment In Your Rituals

Experiment with your rituals. Tweak it when it doesn’t work the best for you. Allow fluidity and flexibility. Finding it incredibly difficult waking up early? It might mean having an earlier night or allowing a later morning so long your ritual is still fulfilled and you achieve what you set out to do in the first place. Remember, do not make comparisons with your personal daily rituals and other people’s. What work for them may not work for us. At the end of the day, we all have different goals, priorities and values. It does not deem us any less successful or productive in our self care, well being and personal growth. Be kind to yourself, compassion and kindness are the core to self care.

  • Make It Fun

The best part of designing your daily ritual is it is YOURS! Make it fun and excitable. Who says productivity and self care has to be boring? If spending time with your dog is what you love- why not try integrating it with a morning jog with him/her? I personally LOVE my matcha latte and herbal infusion hence my liquid morning diet is something I look forward for the most. This makes sticking to it a lot easier!

  • Allow Reflection

A daily ritual is an ongoing project with yourself. A framework designed with positive intentions for your self care, well being and personal growth. A dedication to yourself that begins with yourself. It is an empowering routine. Allow reflection over a period of 2 weeks to a month to exercise your reflection muscle and decide for yourself if you are achieving and completing more, feeling more empowered, inner peace, more joyful, more balanced? Write it down as an extension of your gratitude journalling. Remember, our only true competitor exist with the person we were yesterday. Each empowering action is a growth itself.

Alright, that is it for today’s post. I hope you derive huge amount of inspiration and motivation from it!

A huge hug for you.

Love and light,

Sylvia
